Dr. Rick Dina, D.C.

Dr. Rick Dina, D.C. became interested in nutrition in 1986 and has been studying and practicing raw plant-based nutrition since 1987. He worked at Hippocrates Health Institute and for the Juiceman before entering Life Chiropractic College in 1993. After graduating in 1997, he practiced at True North Health Center from 1997 until 2001, helping patients recover from high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, autoimmune diseases and other nutritionally related health challenges with fasting and whole food plant based nutrition. After teaching at Bastyr University, Dr. Rick maintained a private chiropractic and nutrition practice from 2003 until 2008 in San Rafael, CA, with his wife Dr. Karin Dina, D.C.

Since closing their San Rafael office in the fall of 2008, Karin and Rick have been dedicated to teaching a functional and scientifically sound approach to plant-based nutrition. This includes their highly acclaimed “Science of Raw Food Nutrition™” series of courses taught at the Living Light Institute in northern California.

SUN 11am: Avoiding Common Raw Food Nutrition Pitfalls
In some raw food camps, fruit has been branded the evil villain that should be avoided at all costs, while in others it is seen as the savior. Are either of these positions justified? This presentation will explore the pros and cons of fruit consumption utilizing peer reviewed scientific research, common sense, and rational thinking. Included are discussions regarding the glycemic index, glycemic load, insulin production, and fruits role in blood sugar regulation and weight management, from the perspective of a 23-year raw food vegan clinician and educator.
